Microsoft Takes East Africa Dev Community by Storm!

Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington, that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers and services. Microsoft’s has two offices in Africa, East and South Africa. The East Africa branch has its office in Kenya which supports: Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda.

Microsoft is one of the key partners of the m:lab East Africa. This year, The President of Microsoft International, Jean-Philippe Courtois officially opened the Microsoft Room at m:lab East Africa on 4th June 2013. Jean Philippe Courtois leads global sales, marketing and service for Microsoft International, a territory that spans 100+ subsidiaries operating in 240+ countries outside the United States and Canada.

The opening of the Microsoft room – a meeting developer lounge space and experiential facility equipped with windows gizmos formerly launched an annual partnership between the m:lab and Microsoft. The experience room has XBOX console, Acer Iconia Tab, Kinect, LCD TV among other.

Microsoft has also been quite active in training developers on useful programs, tools and resources that developers can use. Some of these are Visual Studio, Windows 8 App Development,Windows Phone, Windows Azure, BizSpark (for startups),  Dreamspark, Faculty Connection and Microsoft student programs.

Microsoft has also donated the huawei 4afrika phones to be added in the m:lab testing facility to be used for testing apps by the developers with windows phone 8 applications.
